withstanding, all of the work of constructing, improving,
equipping, renovating and furnishing said rooms, including
the purchase of any furniture or equipment, and the construc-
tion of the tunnel to connect the State House and Court of
Appeals Building, shall be done under the direct supervision
and control of the Department of Public Improvements with
the approval of the Board of Public Works and the Legis-
lative Council.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners of the several counties of the State and the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore are hereby respectively di-
rected to levy the State taxes for the years 1949 and 1950 at
One-Twentieth of a Cent (1/20c) on each One Hundred Dol-
lars ($100) of assessable property, and for the year 1951 and
all succeeding years until all certificates issued under the
authority of this Act are redeemed, One-sixth of a Cent
(1/6c) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) of assessable
property, to be collected according to law, to meet the interest
on the amount of said certificates outstanding, and also to
meet and redeem so much of the principal in each of said
years as may be represented by certificates redeemable in
each year, respectively.

SEC. 7. And by it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1948.

CHAPTER 9

(Senate Bill 9)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
388 of the Anne Arundel County Code (1947 Edition, being
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws), title "Anne
Arundel County", sub-title "Licenses", providing that li-
censes shall not be issued by the County Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County for the running of dog races with
pari-mutuel betting.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted 'by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 388 of the Anne Arundel County Code
(1947 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Licenses", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

388. No resolution of the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County regulating, licensing or permitting the opera-
