37B.

(g) The Sheriff of Cecil County shall receive an annual
salary of $3,000 and $600 for expenses. The Sheriff shall
appoint a Chief Deputy who shall receive an annual salary
of $2,100 and another deputy who shall receive an annual
salary of f 1,800 and each of said deputies shall receive $600
annually for traveling and other expenses.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1948.

CHAPTER 73

(House Bill 52)

AN ACT to repeal Section 398 of Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Allegany County", sub-title "Lonaconing", and to enact
in lieu thereof a new section 398 to stand in the place and
stead of said section so repealed, relating to the salaries
to be paid to certain officers and employees of the town.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 398 of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Allegany
County", sub-title "Lonaconing", be and it is hereby repealed
and that a new Section 398 be and it is hereby enacted in
lieu thereof, said new section to read as follows:

398. They may allow the said bailiff and other police
officers and Town Clerk such reasonable compensation for
their services as they may, by ordinance, provide, payable
in equal monthly installments; the Treasurer shall receive
a salary of fifty dollars per annum; the Mayor shall receive
a salary of one hundred dollars per annum, and each Coun-
cilman shall receive the sum of two dollars for each meeting
of the Council at which his attendance is recorded upon the
minutes, provided such compensation shall not be paid for
more than twenty such meetings in each year.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1948.
