the powers, and perform all the duties that are now or here-
after may be imposed on them by law, and they shall each
receive, as compensation, the sum of nine hundred dollars
per annum and mileage at the rate of five cents (5^) per mile
while attending to their official duties, but not to exceed sixty
dollars ($60. 00) per year for any Commissioner.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of
this Act shall not affect the terms of the present County
Commissioners of Kent County.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 706.
(House Bill 428)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
154 and 159 of Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil County", sub-
title "County Treasurer", relating to the bonds to be given
by the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer of Cecil County
and prescribing their compensation.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 154 and 159 of Article 8 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil
County", sub-title "County Treasurer", be and they are here-
by repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
154. The legal and qualified voters of Cecil County shall
at the general State election, to be held in the year 1946,
and every four years thereafter, elect some person, a resi-
dent of said county, to be Treasurer of Cecil County, whose
duty it shall be to collect and disburse, upon the lawful orders
of the County Commissioners of Cecil County, all taxes levied
in Cecil County and for this purpose he is clothed with
all the powers possessed by collectors of taxes under the
provisions of the Code of Public General Laws, and the per-
sons elected to said office under the provisions of this section
shall hold said office for four years from the first Monday in
July succeeding their election. The assistant treasurer shall be
elected by the votes of the legally qualified voters of said
