CHAPTER 689.
(House Bill 815)
AN Act to repeal Sections 64, 65 and 65A of Article 2B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Alcoholic Beverages",
sub-title "County Dispensaries", and to enact in lieu thereof
three new sections, said sections to be known as Sections
64, 65 and 65A of said Article, relating to the Liquor Control
Board of Montgomery County, its appointment powers,
duties and privileges, and to the licensing and sale of said
alcoholic beverages and the disposition of certain proceeds
thereof, and to the power of the County Commissioners to
borrow money for certain purposes, and establishing the
terms and salaries of the members of said Board.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 64, 65 and 65A of Article 2B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland, title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-
title "County Dispensaries", be and they are hereby repealed;
and that three new sections be and they are hereby enacted
in lieu thereof, said new sections to be known as Sections 64,
65 and 65A of said Article, and to read as follows:
64. LIQUOR CONTROL BOARD—APPOINTMENTS, POWER AND
DUTIES—MONTGOMERY COUNTY. In Montgomery County the
Board of County Commissioners at its first meeting after July
1, 1943, are hereby authorized, directed and empowered to
appoint a Board, consisting of five (5) persons, who shall
constitute and be styled "The Liquor Control Board for Mont-
gomery County." Said appointments shall be for a term of
four (4) years. In making said appointments, the Board of
County Commissioners shall designate one of the appointees
to be Chairman of the Board. All members of the Board shall
be residents and voters of Montgomery County and persons
of high character, integrity and recognized business capacity.
The members of said Board shall receive as compensation
Eight Hundred ($800.00) Dollars per annum, and in addition
thereto the Chairman shall receive an additional sum of Four
Hundred (f400.00) Dollars per annum. In case of any vac-
ancy prior to the expiration of said term, the Governor shall
appoint some eligible person to fill the vacancy, and shall
appoint the successor members of said Board at the expiration
of the terms heretofore mentioned in this sub-title for periods
of four years each.
65. The Liquor Control Board for Montgomery County
shall have full power and authority:
