776 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 611

CHAPTER 611.
(House Bill 669)

AN ACT to provide for eight (8) additional police officers for
the Prince George's County Police Force; to authorize the
appointment of two (2) additional Corporals in such police
force; to increase the pay of desk clerks and give them
police powers and clothing allowances, and to provide for
a distinctive uniform for members of said police force, to
make it a misdemeanor for persons not authorized to wear
such uniforms, and to provide penalties therefor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That in addition to the police officers provided for Prince
George's County in Chapter 50 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1937; by Chapter 542 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1939, and by Chapter 475 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1941, the Police Commissioners of Prince George's
County are authorized and directed to appoint eight (8) addi-
tional police officers, to be appointed after having taken exam-
ination in the same manner as provided by Chapter 50 of the
Acts of 1937 for appointments to such Force, to receive the
salaries established for officers of the same rank, as provided by
said. Chapter 50 of the Acts of 1937 or as provided by law
amendatory thereto, to be subject to probationary periods and
in all other respects to be subject to the provisions thereof, as if
they had been originally appointed under the provisions of
said Chapter 50 of the Acts of 1937.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That from among the
police officers of Prince George's County, Maryland, two (2)
thereof shall be designated as corporals of the Prince George's
County Police Force (in addition to the Corporals of the
Force as now provided by law), who shall receive the salaries
established for officers of the same rank, as is provided by
Chapter 542 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1939, or as
provided by law amendatory thereto, and to be subject in all
other respects to the provisions of law, as if they had originally
been appointed under the provisions of said Chapter 542 of the
Acts of 1939.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the six (6) desk
clerks now provided for by law for the Prince George's County
Police Force shall be paid a salary of One Thousand Five
Hundred (|1, 500. 00) Dollars per annum each, such desk clerks
in all other respects to be subject to the provisions of Chapter
50 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1937, and amend-
ments thereto, and other existing laws affecting the Prince
