sub-title "Practitioners of Medicine", said new sections to
be known as Sections 144A, 144B, 144C inclusive, to fol-
low immediately after Section 144 of said Article, pro-
hibiting advertising by all persons practicing medicine and
surgery.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, that three new section be and they are hereby added to
Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "Health", sub-title "Practitioners of Medicine", said new
sections to be known as Sections 144A, 144B, 144C, inclusive,
to follow immediately after Section 144 of said Article, and
to read as follows:
144A. All advertising by all persons practicing medicine
and surgery in this State is prohibited except the following:
(a) A physician or surgeon may use a personal professional
card of not more than S1/^" x 2", upon which may be printed
only his name, title, address, specialty, telephone number and
office hours.
(b) Removal notices may be mailed by any physician or
surgeon notifying any bona fide patient of said physician or
surgeon that he is removing his offices from his present ad-
dress to the address set forth on said notice. Such notice
shall be not more than 5" x 1" and may only contain the name,
title, specialty, telephone number, office hours and new ad-
dress and old address.
(e) Each physician or surgeon may exhibit on the door or
wall of the building wherein he practices not more than two
signs on which shall be placed the name and title or degree
of such person, the letters of which shall not exceed three
inches square. In addition he may exhibit such sign on the
door of his office in addition to those on the door or wall of
such building.
144B. Any person practicing medicine or surgery who
shall solicit or advertise by mail, card, newspaper, pamphlet,
radio or otherwise to the general public, except as set out in
Section 144A, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction thereof shall be fined not less than |50. 00 nor
more than $300. 00 for each offense.
144C. A violation of the provisions of Sections 144A or
144B shall constitute unprofessional conduct and the license
of any physician or surgeon guilty of such violation shall be
subject to revocation as set out in Section 144 of this Article.
