highways, alleys or other public ways within the corporate
limits by all forms and kinds of vehicles and vehicular traffic
or transportation; and to provide, from time to time, for the
punishment of violations of such regulations by fine or im-
prisonment or by both fine and imprisonment.

(e) To regulate and control the planting, trimming, de-
stroying or removal of trees or their broken or fallen parts, in,
or upon or from any public way of said town or within its
corporate limits, without the necessity of any other authority
or permission than is hereby given.

(d) To lay, repair, remove or relay the municipal water
pipe lines, or parts thereof, or their connections on and under
the surface of all the public ways within the corporate limits
of Taneytown without the necessity of any other authority or
permission than is hereby given, provided, however, that if any
such public way be a State Highway, the work shall be done
to the satisfaction of the State Roads Commission, and the
entire cost of replacing the State Highway in as good a condi-
tion as before shall be paid by The Mayor and City Council of
Taneytown.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of
laws inconsistent with this Act, be and the same are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943. i

CHAPTER 551.
(House Bill 543)

AN ACT to add seven new sections to Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne
Arundel County", sub-title "Zoning", said new sections to
be known as Sections 516 to'522, inclusive, and to follow im-
mediately after Section 515 of said Article, authorizing and
empowering the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County to adopt a comprehensive plan of zoning regulations
and restrictions affecting the erection, construction, r^con-
struction, alteration, repair and use of buildings, structures
and land within said County; authorizing and empowering
the said County Commissioners to adopt, within said County,
regulations and restrictions affecting the use of land and
