trial magistrate whose absence or inability caused the substi-
tution, and the salary of the trial magistrate so causing the
substitution shall be diminished by a sum necessary to com-
pensate the substitute as herein provided, for any such period
of absence or inability in excess of 15 days in any one year.

SEC. 2. And J)e it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 545.
(House Bill 518)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section
(Wicomico County) of Section 100 of Article 52 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Justices of
the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System", authoriz-
ing the County Commissioners to prescribe the compensation
of the clerk of the People's Court of Wicomico County, not
to exceed a certain maximum.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (Wicomico County) of Section 100 of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates Sys-
tem", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

100. (Wicomico County. ) There shall be one trial mag-
istrate who shall sit at Salisbury and shall receive an annual
salary of Twenty-four Hundred (f2, 400. 00) Dollars, the said
trial magistrate so appointed to be known as the Judge of the
People's Court.

There shall be appointed biennially by the Judge of the
People's Court a Clerk who shall keep all dockets of and super-
vise and manage the Office of the People's Court of said county
and said Clerk shall perform such other duties as shall be
properly assigned to him by the said Judge and he shall receive
such compensation as the County Commissioners may, in their
discretion prescribe, not exceeding Eighteen Hundred Dollars
($1, 800. 00) per annum, payable by the County Commissioners
of the said County; the said Clerk before entering upon his
duties shall give bond to the State of Maryland in the penalty
of Five Thousand Dollars ($5, 000. 00) with corporate surety
satisfactory to said County Commissioners, the premium of
