ing the special tax for the purpose of establishing and main-
taining a garbage and/or ash and/or trash collection and
disposal service within the corporate limits of the Town of
Cheverly, Maryland, then and in that event the power and
authority vested in the Mayor and Town Council of Cheverly,
Maryland, by this Act shall become operative and effective
but in the event a majority of the votes so cast are against
this amendment, then the power and authority vested in the
Mayor and Town Council of Cheverly as set forth in this amend-
ment shall not become operative and effective.
SEC. 3. And 'be it further enacted, That this Act shall be-
come effective June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 522.
(House Bill 419)
AN ACT to authorize the Washington Suburban Sanitary
Commission to collect a sewer service charge for the mainte-
nance of its sewer system and disposal facilities.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission is
hereby authorized to fix a reasonable sewer maintenance charge
for the purpose of paying for the cost of the maintenance of its
sewer system and its disposal facilities. Said charge, when so
fixed, shall be carried in the water charges of the Commission
and rendered as a part of the service charges for water served
by the Commission.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.
