CHAPTER 517.
(House Bill 401)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland and Charter of Baltimore
City (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title
"Special Fund", said new section to be known as Section
943C, and to follow immediately after Section 943B of said
Article, said Section 943B having been enacted by Chapter
280 of the Acts of 1939, relating to participation in the
Special Funds for Widows.

CHAPTER 518.
(House Bill 404)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Para-
graph (e) of Sub-section (28) of Section 6 of Article 4 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland and Charter
of Baltimore City (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City",
sub-title "General Powers", sub-heading "Taxes", para-
graph heading "Abatements to Encourage Manufacturers",
eliminating the requirement that application be filed to
obtain manufacturers' tax exemption.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
landy That Paragraph (e) of Sub-section (28) of Section 6 of
Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland and
Charter of Baltimore City (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore
City", sub-title "General Powers", sub-heading "Taxes", para-
graph heading "Abatements to Encourage Manufacturers",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

6. (28) (e) To provide by general ordinance, whenever
it shall seem expedient for the encouragement of the growth
and development of manufacturers and manufacturing in-
dustry in the said city, for the abatement of any or all taxes
levied by authority of the said Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore, or by ordinance thereof, for any of the corporate
uses thereof, upon any or all personal property of every de-
scription owned by any individual, firm or corporation in said
city, and property subject to valuation and taxation therein,
including mechanical tools or implements, whether worked
