213. The Orphans' Court or Register of Wills of the coun-
ties of the State, 011 granting letters testamentary or of ad-
ministration, or of collection shall issue a warrant or warrants
under their seal of office authorizing two persons of discre-
tion, not related to the deceased nor interested in the admin-
istration, to appraise the goods, chattels and personal estate
of the deceased known to them, or to be shown by the executor,
administrator or collector. Provided that in Montgomery
County the Orphans' Court shall appoint the appraisers in
accordance with the provisions of Section 214A of this title
as hereinafter provided by this Act.
214. The two persons to appraise the estate as mentioned
in Section 212 shall be nominated to the Court or Register
of Wills as the case may be, by the executor, administrator or
collector, and their warrants to appraise shall issue on the
approval of their appointment by the Court or Register of
Wills, as the case may be; provided, however, that nothing
contained in this section shall apply to the Orphans' Court
or Register of Wills of the City of Baltimore and Montgomery
County.
214A. The Orphans' Court for Montgomery County is
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to appoint one
qualified person to be designated as Chief Appraiser for said
Court, to hold office at the pleasure of the said Court, to
appraise estates, all the goods, chattels, property, real and per-
sonal, in every case where letters testamentary or of admin-
istration have been issued by said Court, and said appraiser
may be assisted by one or more appraiser or appraisers as the
Court may appoint and require, and said assistant or assistants
shall hold office at the pleasure of the said Orphans' Court; and
said Chief Appraiser and his assistant or assistants as the case
may be, shall each receive a fee to be fixed and ordered
by the said Orphans' Court in accordance with the services
rendered and in proportion with the estate appraised. And
the said Orphans' Court is hereby authorized to make and
approve a schedule for the fees of the Chief Appraiser and
the fees of the assistant appraiser or appraisers.
SEC. 2 And be it further enacted, That all laws whether
public local, or general, inconsistent herewith be and the same
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted,, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and hav-
ing been passed upon by a yea and nay vote, supported by
