CHAPTER 375.
(House Bill 503)
AN ACT to repeal Section 418 of Article 2 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne
Arundel County", sub-title "Roads", and to enact in lieu
thereof a new section to be known as Section 418, and to fol-
low immediately after Section 417 of said Article, providing
for the construction, maintenance, re-construction, and re-
pair of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters in the thickly settled
portions of Anne Arundel County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 418 of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "Roads", be and the same hereby is re-
pealed, and a new section be and the same hereby is enacted
in lieu thereof, said new section to be known as Section 418,
and to follow immediately after Section 417 of said Article,
and to read as follows:
418. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are authorized whenever in their judgment it becomes neces-
sary to do so, for the preservation of the public health, safety
and morals, to use a portion of the road tax funds of each or
any district of Anne Arundel County, for the purpose of con-
structing, re-constructing, maintaining or repairing, side-
walks, curbs, and gutters, adjacent to the public highways,
streets, and roads in the thickly populated sections of any said
district of Anne Arundel County.
The portion of the road tax funds expended in any one year,
in any said district, for the purposes set forth in this section,
shall not exceed an amount equivalent to the sum produced
by a levy of five cents (5(0 on each one hundred dollars of
assessable basis of said district for the year in which ex-
pended.
Nothing in this section shall apply to the Sixth District of
Anne Arundel County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.
