appropriations for the Prince George's County Volunteer
Fire Association.

SECTION 1. Be U enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 2 and 4 of Chapter 189 of the Acts of 1931,
as amended by Chapter 666 of the Acts of 1941, be and they
are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

2. The County Commissioners of Prince George's County be
and they are hereby authorized and directed to appropriate and
levy annually the sum of Twenty-eight Thousand Two Hundred
Dollars ($28, 200. 00) for the use of the Prince George's County
Volunteer Fire Association. Said sum shall be paid annually
to the Treasurer of said Association and Forty-two Hundred
Dollars ($4, 200. 00) thereof shall be disbursed by him to the
Bladensburg Rescue Squad $1, 200, Glendale Rescue Squad
$750, Marlboro Rescue Squad $750, Brentwood Rescue Squad
$500, Branchville Rescue Squad $1, 000, and said total of
Twenty-eight Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($28, 200, 00)
shall be disbursed by him only on order of the Board of Direc-
tors of said Association to the member companies, departments
or rescue squads of said Association, only for the purpose of
purchasing, repairing and maintaining apparatus and equip-
ment; provided, however, that no payment shall be made to any
company or department which has resolution or regulation
limiting the territory within which it will respond to calls and
provided further that before any new volunteer fire association,
company or corporation shall share in said appropriation, said
association, company or corporation must receive the approval
of the County Commissioners. Before the County Commis-
sioners shall be required to pay the aforesaid sum of money
to the said Fire Association, the said Commissioners shall have
the power to require the officers of said Association to appear
before them and show to the satisfaction of said Commissioners
that all sums of money paid by the said Commissioners to the
said Association under this Act have been expended for the
purposes set forth in this Act, and also that all member com-
panies are, active fire fighting or rescue squad organizations
with equipment in proper working order. Provided, however,
that no rescue squad not now in existence may be organized in
Prince George's County without the approval of the Board of
Directors of the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire Asso-
ciation and the County Commissioners of Prince George's
County and if any additional rescue squad or squads are
organized the payment to them must be provided out of a
reduction in the amount of payments to the now existing
rescue squads as hereinabove set forth.
