tion), title "Public Education", sub-title "County Board of
Education", providing for an increased allowance for travel-
ing and other expenses for the members of the Board of
Education of Howard County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 39 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title
"County Board of Education", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

39. The County Board of Education shall hold an annual
meeting each year on the second Tuesday in May, or as near as
possible thereto in May. At this meeting the board shall elect
one of its members to serve as president and one to serve as
vice-president. Other regular meetings shall be held at least
once in each school term, and such special meetings may be
held as the duties and business of the board may require. The
members of the County Boards of Education shall receive no
salary, but each member shall receive the sum of One Hundred
Dollars annually for traveling and other expenses incident to
attending the meetings and transacting the business of the
board within the county; provided, however, that in Howard
County each member of the Board of Education shall receive
annually the sum of Two Hundred Dollars for such traveling
and other expenses.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 367.
(House Bill 481)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
212 of Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Howard County", sub-title
"Liquors and Intoxicating Drinks", as said section was
amended by Chapter 208 of the Acts of 1939, relating to the
disposition of fines for violations of liquor laws of Howard
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 212 of Article 14 of the Code of Public
