ratification thereof. Said charges shall be taxed as part
of the costs of the suit, and paid by such party or parties
as the Court shall direct.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That any and all
laws, whether Public General or Public Local Laws, in-
consistent with this Act, be and they are hereby repealed
to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the pres-
ervation of the public health and safety, and having passed
upon the yea and navy vote, supported by three-fifths (3/5)
of all the members elected to the two Houses of the Legis-
lature, the same shall take effect on the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 343.
(Senate Bill 318)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 182 and 184 of Article 12 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett
County, " sub-title "Fire Departments, " as said sections
were amended by Chapter 308 of the Acts of 1937, in-
creasing the amounts to be paid to certain volunteer fire
departments in Garrett County and including the Bloom-
ington Volunteer Fire Department among those to re-
ceive payments and directing the County Commissioners
to levy sufficient sums to pay for same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 182 and 184 of Article 12 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Garrett County, " sub-title "Fire Departments, " as
said sections were amended by Chapter 308 of the Acts
of 1937, be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

182. The County Commissioners of Garrett County are
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum
of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1200. 00) annually to the
Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, and the sum of Seven
Hundred Dollars ($700. 00) annually each to the Friends-
ville Volunteer Fire Department, the Kitzmiller Volunteer
