tax levy on property in precincts 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13
and 14 of the Thirteenth Election District for the main-
tenance and support of the Public Library at Silver Spring.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted 'by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 1039 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Montgomery County (1939 Edition); title "Silver Spring", be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
1039. The County Commissioners of Montgomery County
shall levy a tax of two cents (2^) on each one hundred dollars
(1100. 00) of valuation of all the assessable property in Pre-
cincts 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 of the Thirteenth Elec-
tion District, known as the Silver Spring Election District in
said County, for the maintenance and support of the Public
Library now located in the Jessup Blair Community House at
Silver Spring, and which tax shall be collected by the County
Treasurer as other taxes are collected. The proceeds from said
tax shall be payable by the County Treasurer upon proper
vouchers submitted by the Trustees of the Silver Spring Public
Library Association, provided, however, that the said Trustees
of the Silver Spring Public Library Association shall employ a
trained librarian to have charge of said Library, and the pro-
ceeds of said tax may be used for paying the salary of said
librarian and for the purchase of books or for the payment of
other expenses in connection with the maintenance of said
Library.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.
