imprisonment for a period of not more than one (1) year,
or both in the discretion of the court. The following coun-
ties: St. 'Mary's, Calvert, Dorchester, Queen Anne's and
Worcester shall be exempt from all the provisions of this
sub-title.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 216.
(House Bill 195)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 29
of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Fees of Officers", sub-title "Sheriffs", increas-
ing the fee for arrest on a warrant in criminal cases.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
land, That Section 29 of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Fees of Officers", sub-title
"Sheriffs", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

29. Sheriffs shall be entitled to charge and receive the fol-
lowing fees, to wit:
For serving writ and return......................... f. 75

For taking bail bond................................. 50

For collecting officers' fees for every hundred, six per cent.
For every commitment and release.................... 40

For empaneling a jury.............................. 3. 00

For serving scire facias, including the person summoned,

for each person summoned......................... 75

For serving Citation, for each person summoned......... 75

For executing a warrant of re-survey, per day.......... 3. 00

For summoning evidences to prove the bounds of land,

for each person summoned.......................... 75

If empowered to swear evidences, for every witness sworn

by him........................................... 20

For serving subpoena and return...................... 75

For keeping a prisoner in jail and finding him victuals,

per day.......................................... 30

For serving a writ of possession in ejectment and return 3. 00
For serving an ejectment and return.................. 2. 00

For serving an attachment of contempt and return...... 2. 00
