vest in the United States, as provided in said Act; and pro-
vided further, that the title of any other land or property
acquired shall not be placed in or granted to the United States
or in or to any person, corporation or political community
other than the District itself or the State of Maryland without
the approval of the General Assembly of Maryland, nor shall
the control, maintenance, operation or policing of any such
other park, parkway, forest, street, road, boulevard or other
public way, ground or space within the District be placed in
or surrendered to the United States or to any other person,
corporation or political community other than the Commission
itself without the approval of the General Assembly of Mary-
land. Provided, however, that nothing in this Act shall be
deemed to limit or restrict the police power of the State of
Maryland or of the respective counties in which the respective
park, parkway, forest, street, road, boulevard or other public
way, ground or space shall be located. Lands acquired here-
under, title to which shall become vested in the State of Mary-
land, shall be held by the said State for the general benefit of
the citizens of the State of Maryland and especially for the
benefit of the Citizens and residents of Montgomery and Prince
George's County, respectively, within the said Maryland-Wash-
ington Metropolitan District; provided that title to such lands
shall not be conveyed out of the State, nor shall such use be
extinguished without the concurrent action of this Commis-
sion.

The Commission shall have the* power to negotiate, enter into
and make arrangements with the aforesaid National Capital
Park and Planning Commission or other Federal agency or
with representatives of the State of Virginia or with other
official corporations of Montgomery and Prince George's Coun-
ties relating to the acquisition, development or improvement
of land and other property within the District for said pur-
poses or any of them, but shall not obligate itself or the District
for expenditures beyond the amount of funds in its possession
or to be available to it from bonds, taxes, donations, contribu-
tions or appropriations as provided for or referred to in this
Act.

The Commission shall have the power to lease for a term not
exceeding ten years and to renew such lease from time to time
for additional terms not exceeding ten years each to any re-
sponsible individual, partnership or corporation any portion
of the lands within the Maryland-Washington Metropolitan
District acquired for park purposes under any of the pro-
visions of this Act, and/or to grant privileges, permits and/or
concessions and/or enter into contracts relating to the same,
with any responsible individual, partnership or corporation,
to engage in any business or enterprise on lands acquired for
