Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-
title "Roads", to provide for dividing Carroll County into
road districts.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 325 of Article 7 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Car-
roll County", sub-title "Roads", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows:

325. It shall be the duty of said County Commission-
ers, as soon as possible after the passage of this Act, to
divide the county into road districts, the boundaries of
which and the number of such road districts shall be deter-
mined by the County Commissioners having regard to the
convenient and economical construction and repair of the
roads. Each road district shall be numbered, and all public
roads and large bridges in the county shall be named, and,
as far as possible, the names by which they are ordinarily
known in the neighborhood shall be given to each. The
roads in the county shall be classified into main and dis-
trict roads, and the district roads into first-class, second-
class, etc., according to the amount of travel each receives.
They shall have prepared a road map of the county upon
a scale large enough to show all roads and bridges and
the distance between intersections of roads and prominent
points thereon, and the names of each road and bridge,,
which map shall be prepared within reasonable time.
Whenever a new road shall be opened or accepted, or an
old road altered or closed, its location or the fact that it ha&
been altered or closed shall be promptly designated on said
map. Said County Commissioners may at their discretion
have finger boards or sign posts placed at roads, crossings
or intersections designating the distance to the nearest
prominent point.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.
