September 1, 1944 to July 31, 1945, it is specifically provided
that should the General Assembly of Maryland by any general
law at present existing or hereafter passed by it provide for
any increased compensation to said teachers employed in the
public school system of Maryland and payable out of State
funds for the last named period herein mentioned, then the
County Commissioners of Allegany County shall be required
to levy and appropriate for said last named period only a sum
which when added to said State appropriation shall provide
an amount to pay each of the aforesaid teachers of Allegany
County the additional sum of $300. 00 for said last named
period; provided that no teacher shall receive any portion of
this increase except during his term of service as a teacher of
the public schools of Allegany County. In the event of death,
resignation or removal of any teacher during the period over
which the payments provided for in paragraphs (a) and (b)
are payable, then said payments shall be pro rated.

(b-1) That on and after September 1, 1945, every teacher
(including supervisors, principals and attendance officers) em-
ployed in the public school system of Allegany County, Mary-
land, shall receive the sum of $120. 00 per year as an additional
salary to that provided for in 620A of this Article, as said
section was enacted by Chapter 344 of the Acts of 1939, out of
funds to be levied for and appropriated by the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County for that purpose.

(e) That all the limitations, conditions and restrictions as
set forth in the aforesaid Senate Bill No. 147 with respect to
the payments provided therein to be made to the teachers of
the State of Maryland shall be applicable to all payments to
be made under the provisions of this Act.

(d) That the additional payments provided for, except those
set forth in paragraph b-1, shall not be liable for any contri-
butions to any retirement system.

(e) That the Board of Education of Allegany County is
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to increase the
present wages of all persons engaged in custodial and jani-
torial care of school buildings in Allegany County by the fol-
lowing amounts: 15% to all such persons now receiving less
than f 100. 00 per month; 10% to all such persons receiving
^~XOO per month or more.

(f) That the County Commissioners of Allegany County are
hereby authorized and directed to appropriate and levy a suffi-
cient fund to meet the above payments.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
