SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 952.
(Senate Bill 595)
AN ACT to authorize any department, agency or political
sub-division of the State to sell surplus inventories of
personal property during the present war under certain
circumstances.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That, notwithstanding 'anything to the contrary in the Pub-
lic General or Public Local Laws of Maryland, the head of
any department or agency of the State with the approval
of the Board of Public Works, or the governing body of any
political sub-division thereof, may from time to time, dur-
ing the continuance of the present war, whenever it is
deemed in the public interest, sell, lease, exchange or con-
vey, at public or private sale, upon such terms or conditions
as deemed necessary to promote the public welfare, and to
expedite the war effort, any surplus inventory or inven-
tories of personal property held by such department,
agency or political sub-division of the State.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
be regarded as an emergency war measure to take effect on
June 1, 1943, and shall continue in force for the duration
of the present war.

CHAPTER 953.
(Senate Bill 596)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
9 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "What
Shall Be Taxed and Where", authorizing incorporated
towns to assess escaped property for municipal taxa-
tion until such property has been assessed by the ap-
propriate assessing authorities.
