SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
being passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members of each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect immediately
upon its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, sub-
section (1) of Section 36 of Article 11 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Frederick County", sub-title "Brunswick", as said sec-
tion was enacted by Chapter No. 740 of the Acts of 1943
(Senate Bill No. 308), providing for an increase in sal-
ary of the members of the Council of Brunswick and pro-
viding for a referendum thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Genera I Assembly of Maryland,
That sub-section (1) of Section 36 of Article 11 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Frederick County", sub-title "Brunswick", as said section
was enacted by Chapter No. 740 of the Acts of 1943 (Senate
Bill No. 308), be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
36. (1) The Council shall consist of six members, two
from each of the three wards of the town, who shall hold
office for two years or until the qualification of their suc-
cessors. Each shall be at least twenty-one years of age,
a citizen of the United States, and for two years next pre-
ceding his election a resident of said town, and assessed
with real property in said town to the amount of five hun-
dred dollars ($500. 00), and shall have paid taxes thereon
for two years preceding his election. Each member of the
Council shall receive an annual salary of two hundred and
forty dollars ($240. 00) and no other compensation what-
ever, provided that the members of the Council may be
reimbursed for any expense actually incurred in prosecut-
ing the official business of the municipality.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
be submitted to the legally qualified voters of the Town of
