the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "City of Cumberland, " sub-title "Police and
Fire, " as said section was enacted by Chapter 663 of the
Acts of 1941, relating to contributions to the Fire De-
partment Pension Fund of the City of Cumberland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sub-sections (o) and (p) of Section 37A
of Article 1A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "City of Cumberland, " sub-title
"Police and Fire, " as said section w; as enacted by Chapter
663 of the Acts of 1941, be and they are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

37A.

(o) Participants of the Fund shall pay three (3%) per
cent of" their rated salary or wages to the fund which shall
be deducted from their salary or wages monthly on the
fifteenth of each and every month.

All participants of the Fund shall pay, in addition, three
dollars ($3. 00) to the estate of a deceased member of the
Fund. This amount shall be collected on the fifteenth day
of the month following the death of such member, and the
City Auditor shall deduct said amount from the payroll.

(p) The Mayor and City Council shall levy such tax
upon the assessable property of the City of Cumberland and
appropriate an amount equal to five (5%) per cent of the
rated salary or wages of each participant of the Fund, and
any additional amount which from time to time may be
necessary to carry out the provisions of this Section. The
appropriation shall be paid semi-annually to the Secretary
of the Fund on the first of June and on the first of Decem-
ber in each and every year, upon presentation of a state-
ment from the Secretary, approved by the President of the
Board, showing the amount contributed by the participants.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.
