partments", sub-title "The Department of Education", be
and the same is hereby repealed, and a new section be
added to Article 77 of said Code, title "Public Education",
sub-title "State Superintendent of Schools", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 32A, to follow immediately
after Section 32 of said Article, and to read as follows:

32A. The State Superintendent of Schools shall exer-
cise general supervision over the Maryland School for the
Deaf to the same extent as before the passage of this Act,
and shall lend such aid to the training schools under the
supervision of the Department of Public Welfare as may
be necessary to enable it to formulate appropriate courses
of study therein, and to make such courses coincide, so far
as practicable, with standards required in the public schools
of this State.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That a new section
be and the same is hereby added to Article 59 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Lunatics
and Insane", sub-title "Board of Mental Hygiene", said
new section to be known as Section 20A, to follow immedi-
ately after Section 20 of said Article, and to read as
follows:

20A. Rosewood State Training School shall hereafter
exercise its corporate functions under the supervision,
direction and control of the Board of Mental Hygiene. Said
institution shall continue under the management of its
Board of Managers as hereinafter provided. The Board of
Mental Hygiene shall also by its rules and regulations con-
trol all policies of admission, transfer and discharge of pa-
tients, to the end that increased facilities may be made
available for defective children in this State. The Board of
Mental Hygiene shall undertake a joint study with the De-
partment of Public Welfare, to develop an adequate pro-
gram to insure proper care of all feeble-minded children and
adults throughout the State, and also of all psychotic,
psychopathic and epileptic children.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That Sections 51 to
60, inclusive, of Article 59 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1939 Edition), title "Lunatics and Insane", sub-title
"Rosewood State Training School", be and the same are
hereby repealed, and two new sections be and the same are
hereby added to said Article, said new sections to be known
as Sections 51 and 52 to follow immediately after the sub-
title "Rosewood State Training School", and to read as
follows:
