1278 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 740

full power and authority to hear, determine and pass sen-
tence in all cases for violations of any ordinance of said
town and may impose fines for such violations, and in de-
fault of the payment of such fines and the costs of prose-
cution, may imprison the offender in the town lockup or
county jail, but not exceeding one day for every dollar of
fine imposed, and not exceeding ninety days in all; and for
the purpose of carrying out the police powers herein
granted, the person, before whom any case for the viola-
tion of an ordinance of said town shall be tried as afore-
said, shall have the power to issue warrants commanding
the chief of police of said corporation, or any other police
officer, to arrest any person charged with violating any of
the ordinances of said town and have the offenders brought
before him for trial. In all cases where a person is con-
victed of violating any ordinance of said town, and fined
in excess of five dollars, he shall have the right of appeal
to the Circuit Court for Frederick County; provided, the
person appealing shall pray the appeal forthwith, and shall
give good and sufficient bond, to be approved by the Trial
Magistrate. But no appeal shall stay process or execution
upon the judgment, unless a bond be given as above pro-
vided.

(2) If any offender shall be in default for the non-
payment of any fine and costs imposed, he may be pro-
ceeded against in a civil action in the name of the Mayor
and Council of Brunswick in the same manner as suits are
brought in this State to recover small debts.

(3) The Trial Magistrate shall be furnished with copies
of the ordinances of the town, and shall keep a separate
docket for corporation cases and therein shall record and
make regular entries of his proceedings in all such cases,
setting forth the fine or imprisonment imposed and the
amount of costs, and he shall submit said docket to the
inspection of any person who may request to see the same;
and upon demand of any person interested he shall deliver
a copy of any judgment rendered by him. It shall be the
duty of said justice to make out a summarized report of all
corporation cases and all cases for the violation of any
ordinances of the town of Brunswick heard or tried before
him during the preceding month, which said report shall
state in each and every case the name of the defendant, the
offense charged, the name of the persons upon whose com-
plaint the warrant was issued, the number of witnesses
summoned, the name and official capacity of the officer
serving the warrant, and summons, the judgment rendered,
the amount of fine or penalty imposed, the amount of costs
taxes, and the amount of fines and costs collected by him,
