Each member of the District Forestry Board shall receive
expenses while engaged in the performance of his duties
as such member. The State Commission shall fix the com-
pensation of the District Forester. All compensation pay-
able to and all expenses incurred by a District Board shall
be paid out of funds made available to it under the provi-
sions of this sub-title.
58. It shall be the duty of the District Forestry Board:
1. To promote private forestry by assisting land own-
ers in forest management, the planting of trees, the con-
servation and development of tree crops, the protection of
forests from fires, insects and diseases.
2. To make available to landowners the services of a
District Forester and to advise them with regard1 to their
forest and tree crop problems.
3. To assist the County Assessors, in their appraisal of
growth of forest lands for tax purposes.
4. To disseminate forest conservation information and
collect data relative to the forest conservation problems
of the State.
5. To secure the co-operation and assistance of the
United States and any of its agencies and the agencies of
this State in the conservation of the forest resources of
the State.
6. To assist private owners of forest land by advice
as to the construction of flood control measures, seeding
and planting of waste slopes, abandoned or eroded lands,
and the development of wild life by the planting of food
or cover producing trees, bushes and shrubs.
7. The District Forestry Boards shall receive and pass
on proposed work plans for the cutting of forest lands.
From the decisions of such Boards appeal may be taken
to the State Commission as hereinbefore provided. District
Boards shall, subject to the general jurisdiction and regu-
lations of the Commission of State Forests and Parks,
perform all acts reasonable and necessary to attain the
objectives of this sub-title, and shall keep the Commission
of State Forests and Parks advised of the state of affairs
in connection with the administration of this sub-title and
make annual report to the Commission of State Forests and
Parks in connection therewith.
8. Each District Forestry Board shall maintain an
office, keep a record of its transactions and file, promptly,
