county or counties in which similar camps are now estab-
lished, is increased above the greatest number therein dur-
ing the year 1942, then, to the extent of such increase, the
Board of Correction may, in its discretion, make available
prisoners for the harvesting and gathering or the processing
and canning of any agricultural crops in counties other than
the counties in which the aforesaid camps are respectively
located, subject to the same terms and conditions as pro-
vided above.
It is declared to be the policy of the State that, because
of the enforced idleness of prisoners in the several penal
institutions of the State, it is necessary and desirable that
useful work on State projects may be found for said pris-
oners who may be safely used for this work shall be put
upon maintenance and reconstruction of the State roads.
All prisoners placed at work on farms under the
provisions of this section shall remain under the con-
trol and custody of the officers of the institution from
which they are assigned and shall remain subject to all of
the laws, including the law %s to escaping from prison,
rules and regulations applicable to prisoners confined in
said institution.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
241-A of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "Free
Scholarships", sub-heading "University of Maryland",
as said section was enacted by Chapter 843 of the Acts
of 1941, relating to the time for appointment of students
for scholarships to the University of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 241-A of Article 77 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Public Edu-
cation", sub-title "Free Scholarships", sub-heading "Uni-
versity of Maryland", as said section was enacted by Chap-
ter 843 of the Acts of 1941, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
