02 LATERAL GASOLINE TAX (One and One-half Cent
(l%c) Tax):

To the State Roads Commission the proceeds of 100%
(less refund exemptions and less payments of
Gasoline Tax Refunds to Incorporated Cities and
Towns) of the Lateral Road Gasoline Tax Fund,
One and one-half Cent (l^c) after deducting
three-eights (% ) of that sum appropriated for
maintaining the' Gasoline Tax Collection Depart-
ment in the Office of the State Comptroller; and
after deducting an Appropriation not to exceed
Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,00000) for
each of the fiscal years (to be paid only in the dis-
cretion of and upon the' approval of the Board of
Public Works) to that Company which shall
actually operate a Ferry Boat or Boats across the
Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore City or to and
from any point approved by the Public Service
Commission of Maryland, along the north shore of
the Patapsco River, or to and from any point on
the Western shore of the Chesapeake Bay and
tributaries north of the Patapsco River; and to
then deduct a ratable share of the tax, not exceed-
ing $89,810.00, for the purpose of maintaining the
S"tate Guard Detail as part of the Military Depart-
ment of the State, but such deduction shall be
made only so long as the ^Emergency exists, due to
the War status, or until provision is otherwise
made to rele'ase the Guard from the duty of safe-
guarding strategic points or projects for the con-
tinued and uninterrupted use of the road and high-
way Systems. The ratable share to be deducted
shall be the ratio of the One and one-half Cent
(l^e) Lateral Gasoline Tax to the entire' net in-
come from the Gasoline Tax and the income from
Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, exclusive, how-
ever, of one and four-tenths mills ($.0014) of the
Two Ce'nt (2c) Tax, and exclusive of income from
Truck License Fees and Franchise Taxes. The
amounts named herein are computed as estimates
only, it being the intention that these appropria-
tions shall be1 100% of the revenue aforesaid, and
it being further the intention that should the pro-
ceeds of this tax exceed the respective amounts
herein set forth, then such exce'ss shall not revert
to the General Fund of the. State, but shall be
applied and administered for those purposes and in
like manner as the sums hereby requested. Out
of the total revenue as aforesaid, and after provi-
