153. The person so elected Treasurer, before he enters
upon the duties of his office shall make and execute to the
State of Maryland two bonds, one for such amount as may
be prescribed by the Comptroller of the Treasurer, with
the approval of the Governor, with good and sufficient
sureties to be approved by the Governor with the condition
that if the above bound Treasurer shall well and faithfully
execute his office and shall account for to the Comptroller,
and pay to the Treasurer of the State, the several sums of
money which he shall receive for the State or be answer-
able for by law at such times as the law shall direct, then
the said obligation shall be void, otherwise to remain in
full force and effect, and another bond for Twenty-five
Thousand Dollars, with sureties to be approved by the
County Commissioners for Kent County, conditioned for
the proper collection and disbursement of all monies placed
in his hands for Kent County and the faithful perform-
ance of all other duties devolving upon him, said bond to
be filed and recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Cir-
cuit Court for Kent County.
154. The said County Treasurer, before he proceeds to
act as such, shall take and subscribe to the oath as pro-
vided for in Article One, Section Six, of the Constitution
of Maryland, which oath shall be administered by the Clerk
of the Circuit Court for Kent County or by one of his
deputies and a certificate thereof under the seal of said
Court shall be filed with the said County Commissioners.
155. The Treasurer shall receive, as compensation for
all services as Treasurer, the annual salary of Twenty-four
Hundred Dollars, payable in equal monthly installments
upon the order of the said Board of County Commission-
ers, and no other compensation or commission shall accrue
to said Treasurer in the performance of his duties as
Treasurer.
156. The Treasurer shall appoint one or more clerks as
may be necessary for the proper discharge of the duties
of his office, who shall be deputy Treasurers, shall qualify
under the Constitution of the State, and shall give such
bond to the Treasurer as he may require, but the aggre-
gate annual salary of said clerks or deputies shall, in no
case, exceed the sum of Sixteen Hundred Dollars.
156A. The Treasurer so elected shall be the collector of
all State taxes and of all County taxes for whatsoever pur-
poses levied or to be levied within Kent County during the
term of his office or that may be placed in his hands for
