said new sections to be known as Sections 16A to 16D,
inclusive, and to follow immediately after Section 16 of
said Article, relating to the recording of Federal judg-
ments and decrees for the purpose of making said judg-
ments and decrees liens.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That four new sections be and they are hereby
added to Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Clerks of Court", sub-title "General
Duties of Clerks", said new sections to be known as Sec-
tions 16A to 16D, inclusive, to follow immediately after
Section 16 of said Article, and to read as follows:

16A. In order to constitute liens against real estate,
judgments or decrees of the District Court of the United
States for the District of Maryland shall be indexed and
recorded in the same manner that judgments and decrees
of State Courts are now indexed and recorded.

16B. A judgment or decree of the District Court of the
United States for the District of Maryland shall constitute
a lien against real estate only within the jurisdictional
limits of the County or Baltimore City, wherein the situs
of said District Court entering or rendering said judgment
or decree is located, in the same manner as a judgment or
decree of a State Court constitutes a lien in the County or
Baltimore City wherein the judgment or decree is entered
or rendered; provided, however, that a transcript of a
judgment or decree of the District Court when indexed
and recorded in any County or Baltimore City, other than
the County or Baltimore City in which it is entered or
rendered, shall constitute a lien against the real estate in
the County or Baltimore City wherein said transcript is
indexed and recorded from the date of the filing thereof
with the Clerk of the Circuit Court of any County, or the
Clerk of the Superior Court for Baltimore City.
16C. The Clerks of the Circuit Courts of the Counties
and the Clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore City are
hereby authorized to accept for filing a transcript of any
judgment or decree of the United States District Court
for the District of Maryland, and shall index and record
the transcript in the same manner as a transcript of a
judgment or decree of a State Court is now indexed and
recorded.

16D. Sections 16A, 16B, 16C and 16D are enacted for
the purpose of authorizing the filing of judgments and
decrees of the United States District Court for the District
