CHAPTER 508.

AN ACT to alter and amend the law relating to the con-
servation of natural resources and the administration
thereof.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 1 to 12, inclusive, of Article 19A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Conservation of Natural Resources" be and the same are
hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new sub-title
"Board of Natural Resources" and four new Sections be
and the same are hereby enacted, to be known as Sections
1, 2, 3 and 4 of Article 19A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Conservation of Natural
Resources", to read as follows:
BOARD OF NATURAL RESOURCES
1. There is hereby created a State agency to be known
as The Board of Natural Resources to co-ordinate the activ-
ities of the several State departments that are concerned
with the conservation of natural resources. The Board
shall be composed of the Chairman of the Commission of
Tidewater Fisheries, the State Game Warden, the State
Forester, the Director of the Department of Geology,
Mines and Water Resources, the Director of Research and
Education, Chairman of the Maryland Publicity Commis-
sion, and six other members to be appointed by the Gov-
ernor, two from the tidewater counties of the Eastern
Shore, two from the tidewater counties of the Western
Shore, and two from the State at large. The four ap-
pointed from the tidewater counties shall have practical
knowledge of tidewater fisheries and shall have no finan-
cial interest in the fisheries industry. The Chairman of
the Commission of Tidewater Fisheries shall serve as
Chairman of the Board.
2. The term of office of the six appointive members of
the Board shall be six years from June 1, 1941, but of
those first appointed, one shall serve for one year, one for
two years, one for three years, one for four years, one for
five years and one for six years. The Governor may re-
move any appointive member for cause, and may fill any
vacancy for the unexpired portion of the term of office in
