SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 65.
(Senate Bill 143)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
42 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title
"Regulations and Restrictions", to make unlawful the
sale of any alcoholic beverages on Sunday in Carroll
County and prescribing penalties for the violation
thereof.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 42 of Article 2B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Alcoholic Bever-
ages", sub-title "Regulations and Restrictions", be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
42. (General Regulations, Hotels, Restaurants and
Clubs—Restrictions, After Midnight and on Sunday. ) No
retail dealer shall be permitted to sell any alcoholic bever-
ages at a bar or counter at any time between the hours of
midnight and 6 A. M. or at any bar or counter on Sunday,
in Talbot and Carroll Counties, it shall be unlaw-
ful for anyone to sell any alcoholic beverages on Sunday.
Any person selling such beverages in Talbot County or in
Carroll County on Sunday shall be guilty of a misdemeanor
and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not exceeding
fifty ($50. 00) dollars for the first offense and for each
succeeding offense shall be fined not exceeding one hundred
($100. 00) dollars, or imprisoned in the County Jail for
not more than thirty (30) days, or be both fined and im-
prisoned, in the discretion of the Court.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.
