If any provision, sub-section, or sentence of this section
or the application thereof to any person, corporation or
circumstance, be held invalid, the remainder of the section,
and the application of any such provision, sub-section or
sentence to other persons, corporations or circumstances
shall not be affected thereby.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1st, 1941.

CHAPTER 503.

(Senate Bill 296)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section
44 of Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, entitled "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title
"Convict Made Goods", regulating the shipment into this
State of goods, wares and merchandise manufacturer,
produced or mined wholly or in part by convicts or pris-
oners of the United States, other States or the District
of Columbia.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 44 of Article 27 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled "Crimes and
Punishments", sub-title "Convict Made Goods", be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments
to read as follows:

44. No goods, waxes or merchandise manufactured or
produced, wholly or in part, or mined by convicts or pris-
oners of the United States, other States, Territories or the
District of Columbia, except convicts or prisoners on parole
or probation, shall be shipped into this State to be sold on
the open market, but such goods, wares or merchandise
may be shipped into this State for sale or exchange to the
State of Maryland, or any of its political sub-divisions, or a
State-aided, owned, controlled or managed public or quasi-
public institution or agency. Any person, firm, association
or corporation violating any of the provisions of this sec-
tion shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon convic-
tion thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than
five hundred dollars ($500. 00) or by imprisonment for
not less than thirty (30) days nor more than sixty (60)
