limits of Hancock for at least twelve (12) months next pre-
ceding the election and who applies therefor.

(b) On the last Monday in January, 1943, and upon the last
Monday in every second January thereafter the registered
voters shall elect a Mayor who shall have the same qualifica-
tions as are hereinafter prescribed for Councilmen.

(c) On the last Monday in January, 1943, and upon the last
Monday in every second January thereafter, the registered
voters shall elect four (4) persons to be Councilmen of Han-
cock, each of whom shall be at least twenty-five (25) years of
age, a registered voter of Hancock, and a resident of Hancock
for at least two (2) years immediately preceding his election.
The Councilmen shall choose one of their number to be Presi-
dent of the Council, and he shall serve as Mayor of Hancock
in the absence of the elected Mayor.

(d) All the duly elected officials of Hancock shall serve
until their successors shall be legally elected and duly quali-
fied, and shall exercise all the powers and perform all the
functions conferred upon them by law.

(e) If the last Monday in January, 1943, or the last Monday
in any second year thereafter is a legal holiday, the elections
herein provided for shall be held on the next succeeding busi-
ness day.

SEC. 2, And be it further enacted, That wherever the word
"Burgess" occurs in any of the Sections 479 to 530, inclusive,
of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), the word "Mayor" shall be used, and wherever
the word "Assistant Burgess" occurs the phrase "President of
the Council" shall be used, and wherever the word "Commis-
sioners" occurs the word "Council" or "Councilmen", as the
case may be, shall be used, to the same extent as if said words
had been originally included in said sections.

SEC. 3. And T)e It further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualification and Selec-
tion of Jurors", relating to the (selection of jurors in Mont-
gomery County.
