of Assessment of three members, two of whom are to be
selected by the County Commissioners of Washington Coun-
ty and to provide for their qualifications, term of office,
duties and compensation, for the procedure of the re-assess-
ment of property, the notice of all changes in assessments
and to provide for the payment of salaries and other ex-
penses of assessment and re-assessment of property.

CHAPTER 426.
(House Bill 707)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
479 and 481 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington County",
sub-title "Hancock", and to repeal Section 481A of said
Article and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section 481A,
changing the corporate name of the town of Hancock from
"Burgess and Commissioners" to "Mayor and Council" of
Hancock, and relating to the election of Mayor and Council.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 479 and 481 of Article 22 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wash-
ington County", sub-title "Hancock", be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that Section
481A of said Article be and it is hereby repealed and a new
Section 481A be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof and
all to read as follows:

479. The inhabitants of Hancock, in Washington County,
are created a corporation by the name of the Mayor and Coun-
cil of Hancock, and by that name shall have perpetual succes-
sion; may sue and be sued, may have and use a common seal
and possess such other incidents and powers as attaches by
law to municipal corporations.

481. The government of said town shall be vested in the
Mayor and four Councilmen, to be elected as hereinafter
provided.

481 A. (a) During business hours on any regular business
day, the Mayor shall register any person who possesses the
same qualifications required of voters to vote in State and
County elections and who has resided within the corporate
