SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 409.
(House Bill 258)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
393, 394 and 395 of Article 20 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Somerset County",
sub-title "Sheriff", and to add six new sections to said
Article, said new sections to be known as Sections 395A to
395F, and to follow immediately after Section 395 of said
Article, providing for the compensation and expenses of the
Sheriff of Somerset County, his office and his deputies, and
for boarding prisoners, and for the disposition of fees and
costs heretofore collected by him, and requiring said Sheriff
and deputies to serve process issued by the Trial Magis-
trates of said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 393, 394 and 395 of Article 20 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
" Somerset County", sub-title "Sheriff", be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that six new
sections be and they are hereby added to Article 20, said new
sections to be known as Sections 395A to 395F, to follow
immediately after Section 395 of said Article, and all to read
as follows:

393. The Sheriff of Somerset County shall receive an
annual salary of the sum of twenty-four hundred dollars
($2, 400. 00), to be paid to him in monthly installments of
two hundred dollars ($200. 00), by the County Commission-
ers of Somerset County; and he shall be allowed sums not
exceeding in the aggregate the sum of three thousand dollars
($3, 000. 00) for any one year for all expenses of his office, in-
cluding automobile mileage allowance, telephone and tele-
graph expense, clerical assistance, and necessary deputies to
assist in the discharge of his duties, except the salary of a
Chief Deputy, which is hereinafter provided for, the said ac-
count for office expenses and deputies to be paid monthly by
