provisions of this section until such other permit has expired
or is revoked.
510. With every such application the applicant shall pay a
fee which "shall be based upon the daily average volume of
milk and cream purchased or to be purchased as set forth
on the applicant's application, computed as follows: (a) for
purchasing and/or receiving milk and/or cream in any amount
not to exceed the equivalent of five hundred (500) daily
pounds of milk, such fee shall be one dollar ($1. 00); (b) for
purchasing and/or receiving milk and/or cream in any amount
in excess of the equivalent of five hundred (500) daily pounds
of milk, but not to exceed the equivalent of two thousand
(2, 000) daily pounds of milk, the fee shall be five dollars
($5. 00); (c) for purchasing and/or receiving milk and/or
cream in any amount in excess of the equivalent of two thou-
sand (2, 000) daily pounds of milk, but not to exceed the
equivalent of forty thousand (40, 000) daily pounds of milk,
the fee shall be ten dollars ($10. 00); (d) for purchasing
and/or receiving milk and/or cream in any amount in excess
of the equivalent of forty thousand (40, 000) daily pounds of
milk, the fee shall be twenty-five dollars ($25. 00). Upon the
receipt of any such application, with the prescribed permit
fee, the University of Maryland shall forthwith issue the
permit so applied for, which such permit shall be valid and
effective during the calendar year for which issued unless
and until it is sooner revoked or suspended for cause. Each
such permit shall be posted in plain view on the premises for
which it was issued, and no such permit shall be assignable
or transferable. All such permits shall be renewable from
year to year upon the filing of an appropriate application
and the payment of the prescribed permit fee to be computed
as hereinabove set forth. It shall be unlawful for any person
to purchase or receive milk or cream by weight, measure, or
butter fat test at any place where the same is to be so weighed,
measured or tested unless such person holds an appropriate
valid permit for such place, or after such permit has expired,
is revoked, or while it is suspended.
511. It shall be unlawful for any person who is subject to
the provisions of Section 509 of this sub-title to use, in the
determination of the butter fat content of the milk or cream
so purchased or received, any test glassware, weights, centri-
fuges, or balances which do not conform to the requirements
of the United States Bureau of Standards and which have not
been inspected, tested and approved by the University of
Maryland, and for each such inspection said University shall
have the right to make a reasonable charge, not in excess of
five (5) cents per item.
