CHAPTER 384.
(House Bill 744)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 139
of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Washington County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as the same was enacted by Chap-
ter 108 of the Laws of Maryland of 1933, and to repeal and
re-enact, with amendments, Section 163 of said Article,
title "Washington County", sub-title "County Commission-
ers", sub-heading "Health", as the same was enacted by
Chapter 227 of the Laws of Maryland of 1939, relating to the
compensation of the County Commissioners of Washington
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the 'General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 139 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", as the same was
enacted by Chapter 108 of the Laws of Maryland of 1933, be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
and that Section 163 of said Article, title "Washington
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", sub-heading
"Health", as the same was enacted by Chapter 227 of the Laws
of Maryland of 1939, be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, and all to read as follows:

139. Each County Commissioner of Washington County
elected in November, 1942, or thereafter, shall receive for his
services an annual salary of twelve hundred dollars ($1200. 00),
payable in monthly installments, and shall receive no other
compensation whatsoever for his services, including those
rendered pursuant to Section 185 of Article 81 of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition).

163. The County Commissioners of Washington County
shall, when sitting as a local board of health, annually, in the
month of May, or as soon thereafter as practicable, appoint
a health officer who shall be a well-educated physician, and
who by virtue of such appointment shall be the secretary of
such board of health and the executive officer thereof; pro-
vided, that the salary to be paid said health officer shall be
fixed by the County Commissioners at the time of his appoint-
ment, and he shall not receive for his services any further
compensation from the County Commissioners in the way of
salary or fees, but he may be allowed for legitimate expenses
in the discretion of the County Commissioners.
