Article, and the moneys in the various funds created by this
Article, shall not be subject to execution, garnishment, attach-
ment, or any other process whatsoever, and shall be unassign-
able except as in this Article specifically provided.

12. Protection Against Fraud. Any person who shall know-
ingly make any false statement or shall falsely or permit to be
falsified any record or records of this retirement system in any
attempt to defraud such system as a result of such act, shall
be guilty of a misdemanor, and shall be punishable therefor
under the laws of the State of Maryland. Should any change
or error in the records result in any member or beneficiary re-
ceiving from the retirement system more or less than he would
have been entitled to receive had the records been correct, the
Board of Trustees shall correct such error, and, as far as prac-
ticable, shall adjust the payment in such a manner that the
actuarial equivalent of the benefit to which such member or
beneficiary was correctly entitled shall be paid.

13. Limitation on Membership. No other provision of law
in any other statute which provides wholly or partly at the
expense of the State of Maryland for pensions or retirement
benefits for employees of the State, their widows, or other de-
pendents, shall apply to members or beneficiaries of the re-
tirement system established by this Article, their widows or
other dependents.

14. Saving Clause. If any clause, sentence, paragraph or
section of this Article shall for any reason, be adjudged by any
Court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or in-
valid, such adjudication shall not affect, or impair or invalidate
the remainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation
to the clause, sentence, paragraph or section thereof so found
unconstitutional or invalid. If any clause, sentence, paragraph
or section of this Article shall, for any reason be adjudged by
any Court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in any particular application, and the said clause, sen-
tence, paragraph or section of this Article shall be constitu-
tional and valid when otherwise applied, such adjudication
shall not affect, impair or invalidate said clause, sentence, para-
graph or section, but shall be confined to the particular ap-
plication so found unconstitutional or invalid.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.
