Mayor and Council of Hagerstown during the remainder
of his natural life a salary or pension of $80. 00 per month.

430A. The Mayor and Council of Hagerstown shall have
full power and authority to and shall annually appropriate
and cause to be raised by taxation a sum of money suffi-
cient to carry out the provisions of and to pay the salaries
or pensions provided for in Section 430.

SEC, 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 267.
(Senate Bill 3)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 768
of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Public General Laws
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title 'Grimes and Punish-
ments", sub-title "Department of Correction", providing
that the schedule of salaries established for the Maryland
Penitentiary by Chapter 431 of the Acts of 1929 shall also be
applicable to the Maryland House of Correction, and pro-
viding further that the guards employed at the Maryland
Penitentiary and Maryland House of Correction shall be
entitled to leave of one day during each week, and vacation
and sick leave as granted to other classified employees of
the State, provided adequate funds for salaries are appro-
priated to maintain such a schedule.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 768 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Department of Correc-
tion", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

768. The Board of Correction shall immediately upon the
taking effect of this Act, cause to be made a classification of
the guards of the Maryland Penitentiary and the Mary-
land House of Correction as may be for the best interest,
conduct and management of the institutions in conform-
ity with the provisions of this section in respect to the
duties to be performed and the salaries to be paid according
to the tenure of service. The Assistant Warden shall be paid
