said new section to be known as Section 263A, to follow im-
mediately after Section 263 of said Article, and to read as
follows:
263A. For the exhibition of motion pictures by any slot,
coin or other new device machine, other than in a motion pic-
ture theatre for which a license fee is paid under the pro-
visions of Section 263, there shall be paid the following annual
license fees:
Where the charge is less than ten cents (10c) for
each machine................................ $20. 00
Where the charge is ten cents (10c) or more for
each machine................................ 40. 00
The clerk issuing the license shall supply the licensee with
a metal tag or stamp to be attached to such machines in ac-
cordance with regulations of the State Comptroller. All
licenses shall expire on the thirtieth day of April each year.
Any person, firm or corporation maintaining or operating any
such machine without a license shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not ex-
ceeding one hundred dollars ($100. 00) for each such violation.
Nothing in this section shall apply to the devices which de-
pend upon the action of leafing or flexing of pictured leaves
or pages, affixed to a revolving reel, to give the effect of motion
pictures.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety, and being passed
upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all of the
members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assembly, the same shall take effect May 1, 1941.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Licenses", sub-title
"Traders", said new section to be known as Section 64A
and to follow immediately after Section 64 of said Article,
relating to trader's licenses for persons with defective
vision.
