320 LAWS OF MARYLAND. CH. 235

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 263 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Hagerstown", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

263. In case of the vacancy in the position of councilman
for any ward, by death or otherwise, the Mayor shall appoint
the person to fill such vacancy whose name shall be submitted
to him in writing by the City Central Committee of the political
party with which the Councilman so vacating has been affiliated
and from the ward in which said vacancy occurs, possessing
the qualifications hereinbefore prescribed for councilmen, for
the unexpired term.

SEC. 2. And be it farther enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 235.
(House Bill 388)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 259
of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County" sub-title
"Salisbury", relating to the corporate and taxable limits of
the City of Salisbury and removing the exemption of cer-
tain property from assessment and taxation by The Mayor
and Council of Salisbury.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 259 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico
County", sub-title "Salisbury", relating to the corporate and
taxable limits of the City of Salisbury and providing for the
exemption of certain property from assessment and taxation
by the Mayor and Council of Salisbury, be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to
read as follows:

259. (a) The taxable corporate limits of said City shall
begin at a large marked pine situated on the east bank of the
Wicomico River between the properties of Juanita E. R. Mer-
ryman and Anita Downes Ward, thence South 43 degrees and
30 minutes East 513. 2 feet to an iron pipe located in the cen-
