CHAPTER 230.
(Senate Bill 294)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 90 and 91 of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County",
sub-title "Chestertown", as said sections were amended
by Chapter 129 of the Acts of 1933, providing for the
qualifications of voters and the manner of holding reg-
istrations and elections in Chestertown.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 90 and 91 of Article 15 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Kent County", sub-title "Chestertown", as said sec-
tions were amended by Chapter 129 of the Acts of 1933,
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
90. The inhabitants of Chestertown who shall have
resided therein for twelve months next preceding the
municipal election, of twenty one (21) years of age, and
being a citizen of the United States, assessed for two hun-
dred dollars ($200. 00) of property within the corporate
limits and who have paid all corporation taxes on or before
the last Monday in February previous to the election, shall
on the third Monday of July, 1931, elect by ballot one per-
son to be Mayor of said town, and all said voters qualified
as aforesaid shall on the third Monday of July, 1931, elect
four persons to be members of the Council of said town,
one from each of the four wards, who shall have the neces-
sary qualifications as hereinafter provided. The council-
men so elected from the first and third wards shall serve
until the first day of April, 1933, or until their successors
are elected and qualified and the councilmen so elected
from the second and fourth wards shall serve until the first
day of April, 1935, or until their successors are elected and
qualified.
The qualified voters of Chestertown shall on the third
Monday of December, 1943, and on the same day in every
second year thereafter, elect by ballot one person to be
Mayor of said town, and all said voters shall on the third
Monday of December, 1943, and on the same day in every
second year thereafter elect two persons to be members
of the council of said town to succeed the members of the
council whose term expires on April first following. And
the Mayor and Councilmen so elected shall take office on
the first Monday on January next ensuing after the date
of their election.
