the laws of the place of its execution, if in a State, a Ter-
ritory or insular possession of the United States, or in the
District of Columbia, or in the Philippine Islands, verified
by the official seal of the officer before whom it is ackowl-
edged, and authenticated in the manner provided by Sec-
tion 18, sub-section (b), hereof, shall have the same effect
as an acknowledgment in the manner and form prescribed
by the laws of this State for instruments executed within
the State.

20. Acknowledgments Not Affected by this Act. No
acknowledgment heretofore taken shall be affected by any-
thing contained herein.

21. Uniformity of Interpretation. This Act shall be so
interpreted as to make uniform the laws of those States
which enact it.

22. Name of Act. This Act may be cited as the Uni-
form Acknowledgments Act.

SEC. 2, And be it further enacted, That this Act snail
take effect June 1st, 1941.

CHAPTER 220.

(Senate Bill 267)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 51 of Article 21 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition) as amended by Chapter
76 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of
1933, title "Talbot County", sub-title "Circuit Court",
sub-heading "Bailiff", relating to the compensation of
the Bailiffs for Talbot County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 51 of Article 21 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition) as amended
by Chapter 76 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland of 1933, title "Talbot County", sub-title "Circuit
Court", sub-heading "Bailiff", be, and it is hereby, repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

51. Every Bailiff attending the Circuit Court for
Talbot County shall receive such compensation as may be
