Assistant Supervisor who shall receive a salary of $2, 400 per
annum. In addition to the duties which may be assigned said
Assistant Supervisor by the Chief magistrate, he shall act in
the absence of the Supervisor and shall at such time possess
the same authority as the Supervisor.
221. (Court Clerks. ) Four of said clerical assistants shall
be designated court clerks and shall receive salaries of $2, 300
each per annum, and shall be assigned by the chief magistrate
to duties in the court rooms when sessions of the Court are
being held, and to such other duties as the chief magistrate
shall prescribe.
222. (Senior Clerks. ) Five of said clerical assistants shall
be designated senior clerks, who shall receive salaries of $2, 080
each per annum, and who shall perform such duties as the
chief magistrate shall prescribe.
Any of the present employees of the Traffic Court appointed
by the Police Commissioner or Board of Police Commission-
ers from the eligible list of the Station House or Headquar-
ters clerks and who are participants in, or contributors to,
the Police Department Pension Fund, if retained by the Chief
Magistrate as clerical assistants, shall continue to be treated
as Police Department employees for the purpose of the Police
Department Pension Fund and retain all rights and privileges
in said Fund to the same extent as enjoyed prior to May 3,
1939; nothing herein contained shall affect the status or pen-
sion rights of former employees of the Traffic Court now on
retirement.
223. (Clerks. ) In addition there shall be appointed by the
chief magistrate certain clerical assistants designated clerks,
who shall receive salaries of not more than f 1, 200 per annum
nor less than $900 per annum, the number of said clerks and
their salaries to be determined by the chief magistrate sub-
ject to the approval of the Governor as provided in the State
budget. The chief magistrate shall have the power to readjust
the salaries of said clerks in his discretion within the limits
herein set.
All clerical assistants provided for in this sub-title shall
be appointed by the Chief Magistrate from lists prepared by
the Board of Police Examiners in the same manner that can-
didates for the Baltimore City Police Force are now appointed.
The dockets and records of arrests and convictions and
all other records shall be kept by the clerks in such form and
under such plan as may jointly be agreed upon by the chief
magistrate of the Traffic Court and the Commissioner of Motor
Vehicles.
