the Justice of the Peace of Worcester County, who shall
have jurisdiction, original and ~ concurrent, with the Cir-
cuit Court for the said County, and the said Justice of the
Peace shall have power to issue all process, and to do all
acts which may be necessary to the exercise of his said jur-
isdiction, and may try and determine all cases whereof he
may have jurisdiction, and may pronounce judgment and
sentence therein in the same manner and to the same ex-
tent as the Circuit Court for the said County could do in
such cases if such cases were tried before said Court with-
out the intervention of a jury; provided, however, that if
any person, when brought before the Justice of the Peace
shall, before trial for the alleged offense pray a jury trial,
or if the State's Attorney for said county shall, before trial
of such alleged offense, pray a trial by jury on the part of
the State, it shall be the duty of the Justice of the Peace to
commit such alleged offender for trial, or to hold him to
bail/to appear for trial in the Circuit Court of the said coun-
ty if it be in session, or at its next session if it be not in
session, and to return said commitment or recognizance
with the names, and residences of witnesses for the prose-
cution endorsed thereon, forthwith, to the Clerk of said
Court, and the Justice of the Peace shall, in every such
case, inform the person charged of his right to a jury trial.
If after trial before the Justice of the Peace, either party
shall feel aggrieved by the judgment of such Justice of the
Peace, there shall be a right of appeal within ten days to
the Circuit Court for said County.

122. The County Commissioners of Worcester County
are hereby authorized to use any part of the fines collected
for the violation of this sub-title for hiring detectives or
secret service officers (who shall be deputized proper offi-
cers) or for paying county constables to secure the enforce-
ment of this sub-title. And when there are no funds
available from fines collected for the violation of this sub-
title, such County Commissioners are hereby authorized to
appropriate not more than five hundred dollars annually
from the general revenue fund for the purpose of enforc-
ing the provisions of this sub-title.

123. The intention of this sub-title is effectually to pre-
vent and suppress the evasions and violations of the liquor
laws in Worcester County and for that purpose all the pro-
visions of this sub-title shall be liberally construed and in-
terpreted; provided, however, that nothing contained in
this sub-title shall apply to private residences, private clubs
or shipments by means of common carriers operating under
