be held in the City. The Clerk shall furnish any person apply-
ing for the same an accurate copy of the list of registered
voters of the City at a price of one (1) cent for each name
thereon. As Officer of Registration, the City Clerk shall have
all the powers and be subject to all the penalties which are
by law provided for officers of registration under the General
Election Laws of Maryland.

CITY TREASURER.

SEC. 64. The Mayor by and with the advice and consent of
the City Council shall on assuming office appoint for a period
of one year a competent person skilled in accounts, a tax-
payer and a qualified voter of the City, not less than twenty-
five years of age, to be City Treasurer.

SEC. 65. Before entering upon the discharge of the duties
of his office, the said Treasurer shall execute a bond to the
Mayor and City Council in the penalty of Twenty-five Thou-
sand ($25, 000. 00) Dollars to be approved by the Mayor with
the condition that if the above bound shall well and faith-
fully execute his office and shall account to the Mayor and
City Council for and pay unto the Treasurer succeeding him
in office, the several sums of money, bonds, securities, records
or other property which he shall receive for the City or be
answerable by law at such times as the law shall direct, then
shall the obligation be void; and the Mayor is authorized to
approve as surety upon said bond, the premium for which shall
be paid out of the City Treasury.

SEC. 66. The Treasurer shall take charge of and safely collect
all moneys, bonds, notes and other securities belonging to
the City and shall pay all claims against the City upon the
order of the Mayor and City Council, but he shall not pay any
claims against the City, no matter by whom held, without
first deducting from the amount of such claim all and every
sum or sums due or owing to the City for taxes or otherwise
by the original holder of such claim or by the Assignees there-
of, and no Assignee of such claim shall avoid such deduction
but shall always be regarded as charged with notice of the
City's right to make such deduction. He shall, as often as he
is called upon to do so, make a written statement to the Mayor
and City Council of the financial condition of the City. He
shall not pay out any funds belonging to the City except upon
an order passed in session by the Mayor and City Council
and countersigned by the Mayor and City Clerk.

SEC. 67. The Treasurer is authorized to withdraw any
funds collected by local banks on his behalf as taxes and de-
