amount of not less than One Thousand ($1, 000. 00) Dollars,
and shall hold their office for two years.

SEC. 35. The qualified voters of the City shall, on the first
Monday in May in the year 1941, elect three City Councilmen
for a period of two years to fill the vacancy caused by those
three Councilmen whose two-year terms will then have ex-
pired; and on the same day and month every year there-
after, three new City Councilmen in their stead shall be so
elected by ballot for similar periods of two years.

SEC. 36. The salary of each member of the City Council
shall be Thirty ($30. 00) Dollars per annum.

SEC. 37. The newly elected members of the City Council
shall take the oath hereinafter prescribed on the third Monday
in May next succeeding their election and shall immediately
begin their term of office. The members of the City Council
shall then and every one year thereafter proceed to elect
from their number a President of the City Council.

SEC. 38. The new]y elected President of the City Council
shall, at said meeting night or as soon as convenient there-
after, appoint a Chairman and members of the following Com-
mittees: Street, Fire, Park and Harbor, City Hall, Finance,
Light, Printing and Beach as well as such other committees
as he deems necessary.

SEC. 39. The members of the City Council shall be the
judges of the qualifications of the Mayor and of their members.

SEC. 40. The City Council, upon an affirmative vote of no
less than two-thirds of its membership, shall have power at
a hearing held for the purpose of preferring charges to remove
any officer appointed by the Mayor for wilful neglect or viola-
tion of duties pertaining to their respective office. On such a
vote, the said officer shall thereupon be dismissed and his
office declared vacant, after which, as soon as possible, the
Mayor shall submit the name of a new appointee for con-
firmation as in the instance of an original appointment.

THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL.

SEC. 41. The Mayor and City Council shall regularly meet
in the Council Room of the City Hall on the first and third
Mondays of each and every month at 8. 00 P. M. and remain in
session so long as it is necessary or desirable. Special meet-
ings may be called at any time by the Mayor when necessary.
