49. Each local unit shall keep such records and accounts
in relation to assistance to dependent children as the State
Department shall prescribe. The State Department of Public
Welfare shall allocate to each local unit such amounts, not
in excess of the total amount available for such purpose, and
upon such conditions as said State Department may prescribe.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 146.
(House Bill 125)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Pun-
ishments", to be under sub-title "Methyl and Denatured
Alcohol", said new section to be known as Section 358A and
to follow immediately after Section 358 of said Article,,
prohibiting the selling or furnishing of methyl or denatured
alcohol or any substance or preparation containing same for
beverage purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", to be under sub-title "Methyl and
Denatured Alcohol", said new section to be known as Section
358A, to follow immediately after Section 358 of said Article,,
and to read as follows:

METHYL AND DENATURED ALCOHOL.

358A. It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or furnish
methyl or denatured alcohol or any substance or preparation
containing same for beverage purposes or to sell or furnish
same under circumstances from which it might reasonably be
deduced that the same was being procured for beverage
purposes.

Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall
be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500. 00), or
sentenced to the House of Correction for not more than two
(2) years, or, in the discretion of the court, be both fined and1
imprisoned.
