lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Prince
George's County", sub-title "Takoma Park", said sec-
tions to be known as 1106A (953A) and 1106B (953B)
and to follow immediately after Section 1106 and 953,
respectively, to create the Takoma Park Fire Commis-
sion and prescribe its powers and duties; and to author-
ize and direct the Mayor and Council of Takoma Park
to pay over to the Takoma Park Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment certain moneys upon the certification of the said
Commission for operation and maintenance of said
Volunteer Fire Department.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That 2 new sections be and they are hereby
added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Montgomery
County (1939 Edition—being Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, 1930 Edition), title
"Montgomery County", sub-title "Takoma Park", and to
Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"Takoma Park", said sections to be known as Sections
1106A (953A) and 1106B (953B), to follow immediately
after Sections 1106 and 953, respectively, and to read as
follows:
1106A.
(953A). There is hereby created a Commission to be
known as the Takoma Park Fire Commission, to consist
of five members, one of whom shall be the duly qualified
Mayor of Takoma Park and all of whom shall be qualified
voters and property owners in the Town of Takoma Park.
The remaining four members shall be elected from the
active membership of the Takoma Park Volunteer Fire
Department, Inc., or its successors, for a term of one year
ending December 31st, of each year. It shall be the duty
of the said Fire Commission to certify annually on or be-
fore March 1st of each year to the Mayor and Council of
the Town of Takoma Park the amount necessary to assist
the Takoma Park Volunteer Fire Department in the suc-
ceeding fiscal year, beginning July 1, thereafter,, to render
adequate fire protection to the inhabitants of the Town
and to assist in maintaining the said Fire Department, ex-
cept that for the year 1941 such certification may be made
at lease one week prior to the adoption of the town budget.
The amount so certified shall not exceed such an amount as
would be produced by a levy of 15c. per hundred dollars
